The 2025 Michelin Guide- our recommendations for UK and Ireland

The Michelin Guide 2025 for the UK and Ireland has been announced. The Michelin Guide is a global symbol of culinary excellence, recognising restaurants that push the boundaries of gastronomy. Earning a Michelin star is more than an accolade—it is a testament to a chef’s dedication, creativity, and mastery of their craft. Behind each star lie countless hours of preparation, an unwavering commitment to quality, and a passion that inspires both chefs and diners alike.

Following last night's ceremony—the Michelin Guide 2025 for Great Britain & Ireland—22 new restaurants were awarded their first Michelin star. Of those awarded, our Head of Restaurants has shared her top four recommendations.

Row on 5, London

In the heart of London’s prestigious Savile Row, Row on 5 embodies bespoke British gastronomy. The latest venture from acclaimed chef-restaurateur Jason Atherton, it arrives in London after the success of its Dubai counterpart, bringing with it a reputation for culinary brilliance. The intimate 28-cover dining room exudes refined elegance, offering a space where every detail is meticulously curated.

Under Executive Chef Spencer Metzger, the menu celebrates British produce, with standout dishes like Cornish turbot with Albufera sauce and turbot liver. The name ROW stands for Refinement of Work, symbolising the pursuit of perfection woven into every plate and every interaction. The establishment’s no-expense-spared luxury and attentive service make it an ideal venue for special occasions—perfect for a celebratory dinner or an intimate date night.

Plates, London

As the first vegan restaurant to earn a Michelin star, Plates redefines plant-based dining with innovation and heart. The minimalist, contemporary setting lets the food shine, creating an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. The menu is a testament to the power of vegetables, transforming seasonal ingredients into breathtaking dishes.

A standout is the Caramelised Lion’s Mane, served with smoked shio koji, bread caramel, cauliflower cream, and black truffle jus—a dish that elevates vegan cuisine to new heights. Whether you are sharing a leisurely lunch with friends or enjoying a memorable dinner with family, Plates offers a fresh, inspiring take on plant-based dining.

AngloThai, London

In Marylebone, AngloThai brings together the best of two culinary worlds. Created by husband-and-wife team John and Desiree Chantarasak, the restaurant fuses bold Thai flavours with British seasonal ingredients, offering a menu that is both familiar and exciting. The coastal-inspired interior, with its white clapperboard walls, feels relaxed and inviting, while the dishes tell a story of cultural harmony.

The standout Ex-Dairy Beef, Peppercorn Curry & Pink Fir Potato perfectly balances the rich, deep flavours of aged beef with the fiery heat of traditional Thai spices. With its vibrant energy, buzzing crowd, and 1980s Madonna on the playlist, AngloThai is the perfect spot for a lively night out with friends or a fun, flavour-packed date.

Avery, Edinburgh

After earning a Michelin star in San Francisco, Chef Rodney Wages brought his acclaimed restaurant, Avery, to Edinburgh’s Stockbridge neighbourhood, where it has now earned its own Michelin star. The intimate setting reflects Wages’ culinary journey, blending Californian innovation with Scotland’s rich larder.

The multi-course tasting menu features a selection of Chef Wages’ favourite dishes from his San Francisco days, alongside new creations inspired by Scotland’s seasonal ingredients. Guests might even encounter spontaneous culinary adventures on the night—a testament to the chef’s playful creativity. Avery’s elegant yet welcoming atmosphere makes it perfect for an intimate dinner, a memorable date night, or a special evening shared with close friends.
